Training
Over the next 18 months we will all be getting together several times to train. These are some of the places that we will be going:
- Derbyshire Dales
- Lake District
- Scotland
- Norway - February 2009
During these training sessions we will be taught how to survive in harsh climates. This includes cooking, tent erecting, use of satellite phones, and navigation. We will also be taught photography.
April 2008 - Update
As you will have gathered by the web site, to date I am the only one who has signed up to walk to the North Pole so group training has not yet started, this is due to start either with others or on my own in the summer.
As you will see from my web page I am very sporty and do some form of activity at school every day. I am also going to the gym in the holidays to build up my upper body strengh and am pulling a tyre around the village of Lound once a week during term time and every day during the holidays. Apparently this is the best type of training to do. At present I am only pulling about 25 kg but as I get stronger this will be increased so that by next April I can easily pull the 40 kgs required.
